Kit includes: 100% wholemeal rye sourdough starter made with Dunany Irish wholemeal rye flour (flour free from artificial chemicals & pesticides), with 1 litre glass clip top lid, 1kg Dunany Irish wholemeal rye flour to refresh your starter and instruction booklet on how to refresh and maintain your starter.
This starter is coming up to its quarter century of life. It was started in 2001!
This sourdough starter is a naturally occurring ecosystem of lactobacillus, bacteria and wild yeasts in a symbiotic relationship with one another. The bacteria in the starter will bring greater flavour to your breads, make them more nutritious and digestible and provide food for the wild yeasts which will produce carbon dioxide and make your bread rise. It is perfect for all your sourdough baking!
PLEASE NOTE: You will need to put your starter straight into the fridge when it arrives and then follow the accompanying instructions for refreshing it.
